You might be a redneck bad parent if your baby begins laughing uncontrollably when you smack the dog.
Emmy wasn't cooperating today while I tried to brush out her shedding fur, so I gave her a whack. Jack was standing in his Exersaucer watching and surprised me with hysterical laughter. Whoops.

Jack has learned so many new things during his tenth month. After nearly two months of using his arms to drag himself around, he began crawling on his knees. He gets everywhere so quickly now. And, about a week ago he showed us that he could climb all the way up the stairs. We've moved the baby gate to the bottom of the stairs now. He also clapped his hands with us for the first time and will do it each time one of us says, "Yay!" or "Clap clap clap." This month he has also started unrolling the toilet paper, opening the garbage in the kitchen and pulling trash out of it, splashing in the toilets and opening the kitchen cabinets. It's been interesting for all of us.
A few days ago I ordered him a play tunnel online from Babies R Us. It came in the mail today. He cried when it burst open out of its packaging, but he was willing to use it when I put my face at the other end and prompted him to come through.
Oh, and his two big front teeth are coming in fast. He seems to enjoy them, as they make it easier for him to hold onto the spoon when I try to pull it out of his mouth.

So keeping up with the traditional baby book hasn't been as convenient as I would like. I've found that the pre-labeled blanks aren't that important to me (like "new foods this month") and that there isn't enough space to record the things I do want to remember. Poor Jack is already nearly ten months old, but better late than never I guess. I'll do a recap later and get this thing going.
